Nevada Liberty: If a county employee has created an unpopular public situation through words or deeds and ‘feels’ like they need to be defended outside of the county building they should pay for their own personal, PR, and legal defense like the rest of us mere citizens. If that doesn’t work well enough, resign.”

Exhibit A: Why does Bob Lucey get more security than Governor Sisolak?

Expanding the definition of  “workplace violence” as the excuse to mobilize taxpayer funded Washoe County contracted private security, public relations propaganda and legal action against its critics should be classified what it is; an attack on the Freedom of Speech.

Eric Brown is proposing to create a Washoe County agency wide Gestapo to be used at his discretion. A similar proposal was drafted in 2021 with “no fiscal impact,” but now that the Biden Administration is pushing the “domestic terrorism narrative against anyone who doesn’t agree with their policies,” Washoe County Dictator Eric Brown has taken the cue and is attempting to codify himself as County Dictator Judge and Jury to crush local dissent.

In 2022, Eric Brown, Washoe County Manager, an unelected official is requesting a minimum of $150,000 per year (but he can request more if required with county commissioner approval) to fund his proposal to defend county employees by countering your dissent with taxpayer funded push propaganda by private public relations firms, the ability to send private security investigators to monitor you in person and online, pursue legal action against you and anything else they fancy at the time.

Redefining Workplace Violence?

“…by providing payment for legal and personal services by outside third-party organizations in situations where employees are unfairly publicly attacked, harassed, or disparaged by members of the public or by political organizations as determined on a case-by-case basis by the Washoe County Manager with input from the Washoe County Workplace Violence Committee.”

County Commissioners Meeting – June 21, 2022 Recommendation to adopt a Comprehensive Employee Support Plan to assist Washoe County employees by providing payment for legal and personal services by outside third-party organizations in situations where employees are unfairly publicly attacked, harassed, or disparaged by members of the public or by political organizations as determined on a case-by-case basis by the Washoe County Manager with input from the Washoe County Workplace Violence Committee.

The objective of the program would be to provide employees support against attacks, harassment, or disparagement that occur or originate outside of the workplace but that relate in some significant degree to the role of the subject employees as employees of the county. As such, situations where this program would be utilized are those that would fall outside the scope of representation by the District Attorney’s Office or other statutorily or otherwise designated legal counsel, or the scope of services typically provided in-house by county departments.

Possible outside organizations to be hired under this program include but are not limited to law firms and public relations organizations.

If approved, authorize the Manager to make expenditures not to exceed $150,000 (aggregate) per fiscal year, with any expenditures above that amount requiring specific approval by the Board of County Commissioners. Manager’s Office. (All Commission Districts.)
