“Judge not, that ye be not judged”… is an abdication of moral responsibility: it is a moral blank check one gives to others in exchange for a moral blank check one expects for oneself.” (Ayn Rand)
Chuck [Muth],
Your recent column congratulating Nohra’s smarmy, faux graciousness “pledging his full support” to Lombardo, as well as Lombardo’s responding how “honored he was to get to know Nohra” and how he looked forward to working with Nohra, was garbage.
Lombardo receiving more votes than the other candidates (did he?) did nothing to atone for his cowardly campaign style, his incompetent ignorance of the issues, his years-long failure to stop crime in his position as Sheriff, his abuse of his elected office, or his numerous and flagrant moral lapses. If Nohra is “pledging his full support” to ANY of these Lombardo attributes, something’s seriously wrong with BOTH of them.
And how about the over-the-top, insincere statement of Lombardo’s about being “honored that he got to know Nohra on the campaign trail.”? Lombardo’s “campaign trail” was only about as long as one end of of my desk to the other. I can think of only 2 instances in 18 months when Lombardo came out of his basement to participate in all-candidate events. Both of them were highly controlled and regulated, and at the last one (Ch. 8 debate), Lombardo practically ran out of the studio afterwards. When exactly did Lombardo have the opportunity to get to know Nohra sufficiently enough to feel “honored” for knowing him?
Taking insincerity to a new level, but followed closely by Nohra, Lombardo is unquestionably a phony, totally unqualified candidate, who would be indistinguishable from Sisolak without a name tag. Whether the Republicans do – or don’t – come together to promote Lombardo’s candidacy will make NO difference in improving our state’s future. The only choice voters will have in November will be between Dumber and Dumber, and no, that’s not a typo.
