“Today, the Republican Party of Washoe County took a stand against actions damaging to our brand. We’ve passed a resolution condemning Clara Andriola’s behavior, no longer recognize her as a Republican, and won’t endorse her for public office. #WashoeCountyGOP #Resolution”
HEREBY, BE IT RESOLVED by the Republican Party of Washoe County that:
WHEREAS the integrity of the Republican Party and its brand are weakened by Republicans in office who vote with Democrats and their policies contrary to the Republican Platform; and
WHEREAS appointed Republican Washoe County Commissioner Clara Andriola has intentionally and willfully failed to uphold the Republicans and the Republican brand in her official capacity by predominantly voting with the Democrats on the Commission, including but not limited to:
Approving the Lands Bill that privatizes huge swaths of public land and prevents the public from its recreational use;
Appointing liberals to boards and committees in Washoe County in lieu of a conservative;
Approving the County Manager’s hiring of the left-wing consulting firm The Elections Group for a whopping $600K in a no-compete bid approval process;
Ignoring expert testimony that proves the county is violating voter’s rights via non-compliance with state statutes and inadequate modes of implementation of the election management system;
Approval of spending on equipment proven to be inaccurate and/or vulnerable to cyber-security risks; the unnecessary and exorbitant $12.6 million draining of the county’s “Rainy Day Fund;”
Abrogating our rights of free speech by not supporting restoration of public comments at the beginning of Commission meetings.
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, the Republican Party of Washoe County condemns the actions of Clara Andriola that have hurt the Republican brand and Republicans as a whole;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Republican Party of Washoe County no longer recognizes Clara Andriola as Republican;
AND BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, the Republican Party of Washoe County will not endorse or support Clara Andriola for any public office;
This resolution is approved by the Republican Party of Washoe County on January 29, 2024.
